The short:

Mohamed Ramadan is an acclaimed Egyptian actor whose popularity continues to surge thanks to his recent entrance into the Arab rap scene.

The long:

Ramadan made his debut as an actor in Egyptian television with a small role in the show “The Cinderella” (Arabic: السندريلا), but credit for his fame comes from his role in “Tell Me, Shahrazad” (احكي يا شهرزاد). In addition to acting, Ramadan has a talent for music which is evident in his rap songs and music videos such as “Bum Bum” (بام بام), “Mafia” (مافيا), and “Ensay” (إنساي), a collaboration with Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred. Ramadan has broken the record for being the “most viewed” celebrity in the Middle East on Youtube, as his channel has surpassed two billion views.

To listen or not to listen:

While Ramadan has received criticism from many in Egypt recently for a picture of him posing with American-Israeli rapper Omer Adam at a party in Dubai, his music and talent has long been praised in the Middle East and internationally. I would say listen because I love his music - especially his song “YA HABIBI”, a duet with French rapper Maitre Gims released in 2020.
