Bayou
Review by Ameena Razzaque
The short:
Adham Bayoumi, or better known as Bayou, was born to Egyptian parents in Jeddah and, like many other kids stuck in a third-in-between identity, grew up in the UK and in the Middle East, trying to figure out who he was.
The long:
Bayou is known for his sultry voice, his songs that seamlessly switch between Arabic and English, and his R&B style that blends Middle Eastern melodies with modern rhythm. Now based in LA, he has collaborated frequently with Saint Levant, even opening for him on tour. His notable songs include “Moonlight,” “Egyptian Wifey,” and “Casablanca.” However, my favorite songs of his are “Mesh Haseebek” featuring Zeyne, a slower song that shows off their chemistry in the music video, and “Call Her Right Now” with upbeat, R&B melodies.
To listen or not to listen:
Yes, please go listen to his work! Also, his new album recently came out, and if you want to listen to a song about “Algerian Angels,” then he’s the guy.
